Jacques Masson has been part of the Canadian jazz scene since the 70’s and has performed with Oliver Jones, Michel Donato, Charly Biddle, Peter Leitch, Nick Ayoub, Billy Robinson, Ranee Lee, Dave Turner, Frédéric Alarie, Luc Beaugrand and many more and has accompanied many American jazz musicians who have performed in Montreal.

He has performed several times at the Montreal Jazz Festival and in 1994 performed at the Montreal DrumFest where he earned a sponsorship from UFIP Cymbals and Premier Percussion. Mr. Masson is also recognised as an accomplished pedagogue. Since 1975, he has been teaching drums at the college level and is in charge of the drum class at Lionel-Groulx College since 1982. He has also written and published 2 drum books entitled “Jeux Rythmiques” and “Coordinations Mélodiques à la Batterrie”. Jacques Masson is also known as a composer for he completed his bachelor’s degree in jazz composition and arranging from Concordia University.
